For the player, for the game!

AC Brea is the competitive soccer program operated under Brea Soccer Association (BSA). AC Brea was formed with the purpose of developing players to develop both as individuals and as teams so that they can go on and compete at the high school and college level.

AC Brea players receive professional training from U.S. Soccer Federation licensed coaches, who coach at local high schools and colleges, and have played for competitive club and college programs. AC Brea coaches provide each player with the technical, tactical, physical and psychological training to meet the challenges of competitive soccer.

AC Brea (club) teams play in Coast Soccer League (CSL), one of the most competitive leagues in the nation.

The goal of AC Brea (club) is to field a competitive team at every age level, starting at under 9 for both boys and girls. AC Brea teams hold tryouts in the spring but many teams invite players to train at selected practices year round.  Most AC Brea teams participate in both the fall and spring CSL leagues

Signature Teams and Coach Selection Process

AC Brea utilizes Calsouth Signature to continue its growth into the future. One of the keys to continuing this success will be coaching.

What is Signature Soccer?

Each year many soccer families are faced with a dilemma: continue playing recreational soccer or make the transition to competitive play. For those recreational players that have developed a higher level of soccer skill, the natural progression is to make the move to competitive soccer.

AC Brea's goal is to help guide players through this process.  We form teams from U9-U19 and work with both individuals, parents and teams to help them discover what the best level is for them.  This is where the Signature Soccer League comes into play and thus, it is a very attractive way to get exposure to competitive soccer as long as it fits in with the overall goal's of AC Brea.

Some key factors regarding Signature:

• AC Brea Lead - AC Brea is responsible for forming teams at each age.  AC Brea will choose coaches, hold try-outs and form teams.  Often this is done before a coach is selected.  It is important for all AC Brea coaches and managers to support the efforts of the organization to guide and lead young teams through their developing stages

Competitive play- Signature soccer is not club soccer, but each Brea team is required to holds try-outs. This also means that the speed, intensity, skill level and physical nature of the game can be much higher than recreational soccer and will typically increase as the players get older. For this reason, the Signature experience is a great stepping stone for club soccer.

Nominal financial commitment- Calsouth places a cap on the fees that Signature teams can collect for training, uniforms, referee fees, etc. The current cap is $350 per player, per season. This fee includes the BSA league registration fees.

Advanced coaching- All Brea Signature coaches must be qualified before they are allowed to coach. What this means is that each coach is required to attain advanced coaching licenses from Calsouth. In addition to this, each coaching staff must go through a detailed interview process in which they are required to demonstrate their competencies and abilities to effectively train soccer players in an age appropriate manner. Collectively this ensures that the players are receiving the best possible training given League rules. It is important to note, that all Signature coaches are volunteers, which is a key reason why the Signature League is able to keep the fees reasonable and is a key differentiator between club and the Signature League.

50% Play Rule- All Signature players are guaranteed a minimum of 50% playing time. Aside from the obvious advantageous, there is a direct correlation between a player’s ability and the number of times he or she touches a ball in game and practice. This rule ensures player development and promotes game-time confidence.
