AC Brea Winter player development programs
Speed CAN be taught!...Sprinting Mechanics, Speed Training, Running Form & ISOCCER
AC Brea has hired JT Searles and Lauryn Welch to head up the boys and girls player development for 2012.
In addition to them, coach Dreux Valenti will be heading up the speed development for AC Brea.
- Sprinting mechanics and sprinting drills.
- Proper sprinting form.
- Central Nervous System (CNS) drills.
- Dynamic warm up drills.
- Strength training and core drills.
isoccer development and evaluations will also be done each of the 6 weeks.
DETAILS:
- Mondays, starting January 30 for 6 weeks.
- U9-U14 5:30-6:45pm
- Cost: $10 per session if you pay in full up front online ($60)
- $20 per session for drop-ins

FUNDAMENTAL FUNCTIONAL ASSESSMENT
This is a mouthful! But it is something that is very necessary for our young athletes...
The Functional Movement Screen will assess common movement patterns for either competency or faults. If a player is competent with the movements it is a good indicator that injury will be lessened. If a player is deficient with the patterns they will most likely need more in depth assessment. In both cases exercises will be issued for performance and/or correction
Benefits: The ability to catch potential dysfunctional movement patterns which lead to injuries. The other benefit is in instituting exercises that can keep players injury free and improve performance
Description: The movements patterns that players will be lead through are:
- Stand to sit and sit to stand
Parallel squat
- Forward and Backward lunge
- Lunge walk
- Step up and over
- Single leg stance
- Hamstring mobility
- Stability push up
Duration: The actual movement patterns and assessment shouldn’t take more than 1/2 to 3/4 of a team’s practice
Outcome: During the assessment Coach Kevin will be recording on video all the movements of each player. Coach Kevin will review the video, type the outcome & put together the exercises. Some players may need additional assessing that can be scheduled on an individual basis
