Coaches & Team Reps

Player Safety

Coaches / Assistants it is your responsibility to see to it that ALL players are safe at all times during their practices and games. No player is to be left on any field alone after a practice or a game has been completed. Inform your parents that they need to be on time to the completion of all practices and games. It is highly recommended that a parent be at (stay for) all practices and games in the event of an emergency. Coaches, Assistant Coaches under no circumstance should a player left in an un-safe situation on a field.

If a player is injured please complete the following forms and contact BSA's Director of Coaching.

Coaches Requirement “Recreational League”

  • Cal South Event Calendar (Coaches Training & Education)
  • Cal South Coaching Education Program
  • Youth Module 3 Licensing Course “Recreational Soccer”
    All Coaches and Assistant Coaches in the recreational level of soccer will be required to have a minimum of a YM-3 license course.
    Youth Module 3—State Youth License - Under 10 Years and Older
    This 5-hour course combines field and classroom instruction in intermediate coaching and teaching methodology.  The course consists of the following information:
    Topics:

    • Methods of coaching
    • Team administration and risk management
    • Prevention and care of injuries
    • Coaching technique
    • Coaching tactics
    • Laws of the Game
    • Principles of attack and defense
    • Small-sided games

    Prerequisites:

    • AN OPEN MIND!
    • Minimum age – 16 years old

    Course Length:

    • 5 hours of instruction
    • 2 hours classroom
    • 3 hours field

    Testing:

    • None

    Cost:

    • $20 per person

    Provisional coaching license will be issued to all coaches age 16 years to under 18 years of age. All coaches holding a provisional coaching license will be required to work with a licensed coach 18 years and over. Upon reaching the age of 18, a coach holding a provisional coaching license shall be issues a full coaching license upon written request to the state director of coaching education.

    It is mandatory that ALL Coaches, Assistant Coaches & Team Parents of ALL levels of the Brea Soccer Association be Live Scanned. This is for the safety of our players.  There are NO exceptions!

    Cal South "KidSafe" Risk Management Program Live Scan Fingerprinting
    Cal South has once again made advancements in the KIDSAFE Risk Management program by switching to Live Scan fingerprint technology. This switch solidifies Cal South’s position as having one of the most progressive Risk Management programs in the country with the intent on keeping the 137,000 Cal South Member’s KIDSAFE.
    Live Scan digital submissions provide the quickest way to submit and process background checks through the Department of Justice (DOJ). They also provide for seamless integration into the California DOJ subsequent arrest notification program, providing the following benefits:

    1. Administrators only have to be fingerprinted once for the lifetime of their involvement in Cal South Soccer.
    2. Through the California DOJ subsequent arrest notification program, we retain the ability to screen subsequent arrest activity & make decisions towards keeping KIDSAFE & protecting the best interest of our 206 Member Leagues.

    Members also have the option of being live scanned through any Applicant Live Scan Site they choose throughout southern California. All Members must complete and take a Request for Live Scan Form whether they attend a Cal South session or go to another Applicant Live Scan Site. (Members need the newest version 7.0 or higher of Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to view and use the Request for Live Scan form. To get the latest version, please click here.)
