Tournament Overview
The Brea Kickoff Classic is looking for all signature teams, AYSO+ teams
and first year bronze level teams to fill out its brackets.
The Brea Kickoff Classic will be using the 2009/10 age brackets. It is
the teams responsibility to ensure they apply in the correct age bracket.
This tournament shall be subject to and games shall be played pursuant
to rules of the Federation International
de Football Association (FIFA) as modified by the United States Youth
Soccer Association (USYSA), Cal South, and the Brea Soccer Association
(BSA) Tournament Committee.
TOURNAMENT DATES: August 29-30, 2009
APPLICATION DEADLINE: August 1, 2009 or when the brackets
are full.
CLASSIFICATION: CYSA-S Sanctioned Class 1 & 3 tournament.
COST: $345 for U9 – U10 playing 8 v. 8
$395 for U11 – U14 playing 11 v. 11
ELIGIBILITY: Teams must be affiliated with USYSA and
players must have their 2009/10 laminated player’s passes / cards
or equivalent national association, AND their 2009/10 registration forms.
PLAYING FORMAT: Flights will normally consist of 6 teams,
playing in two, three team pools. Winners of each pool would play for
the championship of the age bracket. Pool play begins Saturday morning.
Teams will typically play two games Saturday. All teams are guaranteed
three games. Should a bracket have less than 6 teams, medals will still
be awarded to the top two finishers.
ACCEPTANCE: Once the team completes the application
process and fees have been received, the application will be reviewed
and the selection committee will determine the status of the acceptance.
After a team has gained entry, notice will be given via email. No refunds
will be given once a team receives an acceptance email from the tournament
committee.
CHECK-IN: Check-in will be conducted one hour before
your first scheduled game at the scheduled game site.
AGE GROUPING: Teams will playing in the 2009/10 age
brackets. Teams may request to play up an age group if they desire more
competition.
AWARDS: All players will receive tournament pin. Finalists
will receive tournament medals. Tournament pins will be handed out at
registration.
SCHEDULES: Schedules are expected to be posted no later
than August 24 at 8am. It is the responsibility of all teams to check
the schedule for any changes.
RULES
Protests: No protests will be allowed. All decisions
of the Field Marshall and/or tournament committee are final.
Team Registration: All teams must register at the field
Marshall table 1 hour prior to their first game. All check-in will be
at the field where the teams are scheduled. Each team shall designate
a representative who will appear in person at check-in to provide the
following:
- Sign a completed Player Roster.
- Present LAMINATED CYSA-S sanctioned player ID cards.
- Present completed Medical Release forms signed by player’s parent.
Game Check-in: All teams must be present 20 minutes prior to the start
of all games to be checked in by the field marshal.
Player Equipment: Players will wear approved cleats
and shin guards. No player may play with a cast or hard brace. Field Marshall
will complete player safety check. Referee will have final say on safety.
Match Times / Overtime Rules: Pool Play: All age groups
will play 25 minute halves with a five minute halftime. There is no overtime
in any pool play match.Consolation and 3rd place games will play 25 minute
halves. There is no overtime in consolation or 3rd place match.
Semi-Final Matches: U9-U10 will play 25 minute halves,
all others will play 30 minutes halves. Both will have a five minute halftime.
Games ending regular time in a tie will go to five minute sudden death
overtimes. Teams will switch direction after the first five minute overtime.
Any goal scored during overtime ends the match. If no team scores in overtime,
FIFA penalty kicks will determine the winner.
Championship Matches: All championship games will be
Cal South regulation time with a five minute halftime. Games ending regular
time in a tie will go to five minute sudden death overtimes. Teams will
switch direction after the first five minute overtime. Any goal scored
during overtime ends the match. If no team scores in overtime, FIFA penalty
kicks will determine the winner.
Tournament Games: The team listed first on the schedule
is the home team. Home team shall resolve uniform conflicts by changing
its playing color. The home team shall be on the south or west side of
the field. The home team shall provide 3 game balls. For pool play games,
home team shall have kickoff and defend wither the south or west goal.
Teams must be present with seven players at scheduled game time or forfeit
the match. Exception to this is for the U9-U10 teams, they must have six
players.
Teams must maintain at least on the field for the duration of the match
or forfeit the match. Exception to this is for the U9-U10 teams, they
must have six players.
Player must play in at least one match to qualify for awards.
Substitution may be made with the consent of the referee at any dead
ball.
Tournament Scoring System: Points to determine the finalist will be
awarded as follows:
- 6 points for each win
- 3 points for each tie
- 1 point for a shutout win
- 1 point for each goal to a maximum of 3 points
Forfeits will be scored as a 1-0 win
Each red card by a player or coach will result in a one point deduction
In the event of a points tie, finalist will be determined as follows:
- Head to head competition
- Least goals allowed
- Most goals scored
- Most shutout wins
- FIFA penalty kicks
Loan Players: Unlimited loan players will be permitted
with a maximum of 18 players on the roster (15 for U9-U10). Loan players
must not be rostered to a team higher than a bronze (or league equivalent)
level. A player may only play with one team team during the tournament.
Rosters are frozen at the start of a teams first game in the tournament.
Forfeits / Team Disqualification: If for any reason
a team forfeits the Semi-Final game prior to being played, the next qualifying
team within their bracket will replace them. If for any reason a team
forfeits the Championship game prior to be played, no awards will be presented
to that team. The team will be replaced by the losing team of the Semi-Final
game if possible.
The Tournament Director or his representatives may, for willful violation
of the rules of play and conduct on the field, suspend a player, coach,
or team from play for the remainder of the tournament with no refunds
to the team suffering such suspension.
Player / Coach Conduct: Any player or coach receiving
a straight Red Card is disqualified for the remainder of the match and
the next two matches thereafter. Any player or coach receiving a Red Card
received for a double yellow is disqualified for the remainder of the
match and the next match thereafter. All Red Cards will receive an automatic
review by the tournament committee. Further game suspensions for fighting
and violent conduct may be added. A deduction of one point per Red Card
will be assessed in the point total scoring calculation.
Team / Spectator Conduct: Coaches shall be responsible
for the conduct of the spectators on their sidelines.
Coaching Conflicts: We will do our best to resolve scheduling
conflicts by coaches who have multiple teams however it can not be guaranteed.
Please indicate the teams coached by a single coach on each application
submitted.
