How do I register my child?

Registration links are to be found on the home page of breasoccer.org. Email or direct contact number for information on registration dates and fees. AC Brea Recreational is run by a primarily all-volunteer staff that may need time to return calls and e-mails. Check the website first before trying to contact a board member. Usually you can find all the information you need there. If you have any difficulty and need help please contact the Recreational Director or Registrar.

What equipment is needed?

Every child will need soccer shoes and a soccer ball. Shin guard's are required. It is also recommended that the player brings a water bottle to every practice and game.

How much does it cost to sign up?

AC Brea is very affordable, but the cost differs depending on the age of the player. The fee is used for insurance, equipment, uniforms, program development, field rental and other needs.

How are teams formed?

Clinic & U8 teams are formed by placing kids based on where they go to school or geographic proximity. Clinic teams are Co-ed, U8 are based via gender.

U10 & U12 teams are formed by serpentine draft. We have existing ratings on returning players and do evaluations on all new players. Teams are balanced and then coaches are selected and placed. Coaches can freeze 2 players. Once coaches are placed with teams their freezes are moved to their teams by exchanging with the same rated player

U14 and up teams are balanced by serpentine if we have 4 or more teams. If we have 3 or less teams the coaches meet and the players are drafted and the teams are balanced based on consensus.

Who will coach my child's team?

AC Brea teams are coached by parent volunteers from your community, many of them parents with children in the program.

It's after August 1st and my child has not been called. What do I do?

Contact the Recreational Director. Coaches should contact the players/parents by August 1st. They will give you all the information you will need in regards to practice times and location. Coaches request specific practice days, time and location. AC Brea creates the official practice schedule.

Please do not panic if you see teams practicing and your child has not been called. Not all teams begin practice at the same time. Also some coaches may be out of town. If your child has not been called contact the Recreational Director AND Registrar. You can find contact information by clicking on our website

Who do I call?

Contact an AC Brea Board Member for most information. Check our website first as it will often have all the info you are looking for. If you aren't sure who to contact start with your division director, visit our website it should give you the phone number and email address. We prefer that your coach or Team Rep contact us, not the parents. This allows us to give clear communication to the coach and Team Rep to give to the entire team. So any questions you have we recommend you go through your Coach and/or Team Rep.

Division Directors for 2023 Fall:

How often are practices and games?

Practices are held once or twice a week. Games are on Saturdays. Some older teams (U16 and older) many have Sunday games. Location of games and practices will be determined by request of the coach only with schedules provided to you by your child's coach.

My child withdrew. How do I get a refund?

Refunds must be requested prior to deadline June 18th, in writing or email. After deadline some refunds maybe requested due to severe injury or other causes. Here are some reasons for which we DO NOT issue refunds:

  • “I don’t like my child’s coach”
  • “My child does not like his/her coach”
  • “The scheduled practice days don’t work for me”
  • “The scheduled games don’t work for me”
  • “I did not get the coach I requested”
  • “I did not get on my friend’s team”
  • “I got asked to join a club team and want to play there instead”
  • “My request to play up in an older age group was denied”
  • “I signed up for a different league”
  • …there are still others.

What am I expected to do as an AC Brea parent?

Take your child to practices and games with the proper equipment. Support your child by giving encouragement and showing an interest in his or her team. Help your child learn soccer skills and good sportsmanship. Teach your child our core values of commitment, chemistry, competence, character, and celebration.

Parents or family members of players are expected to volunteer in the following areas:

  • Coaching
  • Team rep
  • Referee
  • Other (Opening Day, Picture Day, Field Set ups)

If you choose not to participate as a volunteer for one of the above opportunities there will be a $35 buyout for each player registered.

Always Be Positive

You are not on the team, but you have strong influence on the team's environment. Applaud good plays by your child's team and by the opposing team. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from youth sporting activities.

Be Enthusiastic And Supportive

Let children set their own goals and play the game for themselves. Don't put too heavy a burden on your child to win games.

Reinforce Positive Behavior

The best way to help a child to achieve goals and reduce the natural fear of failure is through positive reinforcement. No one likes to make a mistake. If your child does make one, remember that he or she is still learning. Encourage your child's efforts and point out the good things your child accomplished.

Let Coaches Coach And Referees Ref

Coaches and referees are usually parents. They volunteer their time to help make your child's youth soccer experience a positive one. They need your support, too. What coaches and referees don't need is your help in coaching from the sidelines. So please refrain from coaching during games and practices. Referees are important for fun, fair and safe games. Treat them and their calls fairly and respectfully.

How do I become an AC Brea volunteer?

When you register your child there is an opportunity to sign up to volunteer. If you would like to join the board of directors please contact our board president@breasoccer.org

How does AC Brea protect its athletes?

AC Brea is a sanctioned organization/league by Cal South, the governing body of soccer in the state of California sanctioned by the US Soccer Federation (USSF). AC Brea requires all team coaches and admins to get Live scanned, take concussion training courses, go through coaching courses and certification, and all coaches and admins are required to maintain good standing with the league.

Our Technical Director provides further training and programs for players and coaches to develop.

Who are the game officials/referees?

AC Brea follows FIFA laws of the game. We partner with sanctioned referee organizations to provide the training and referees for our games.

The referee is the ultimate authority during the game. The referee's chief responsibilities are to make the game as fun, fair and safe for the players as possible. The referee enforces the rules - which, in soccer, are called "Laws" - by calling offenses and determining if goals have been scored.

Assistant referees provide vital assistance to the referee by signaling when the ball has gone out of play and which team gets possession. Assistant referees also assist with substitutions and the general control of the game.

Does AC Brea have programs for children with special needs?

AC Brea Partners with the Cal South Top Soccer program which is held in neighboring cities of Placentia and Yorba Linda. If you would like to participate in this contact our Executive Director.
